In the centre, look for the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul (1805-1840) and the Orthodox Dormition Church, built 1847-1855 in a richly decorated Russian-Byzantine style. The St. Roch chapel and cemetery, with its 1850 gate, are worth a look too. Zabłudów also holds an important place in Jewish architectural history — it was once home to the Great Synagogue, one of the most valuable wooden synagogues in Poland, built in the 17th century and burned down by German forces in June 1941; today the local Jewish cemetery (kirkut) is the main trace of that community. A ten-to-fifteen-minute drive away (toward Białystok) is the Krzemianka nature reserve in the Knyszyńska Forest — with numerous springs that don't freeze in winter, an educational boardwalk trail, and traces of a prehistoric flint mine roughly 3,000 years old.
An hour is usually enough for the centre, the church and the Orthodox church. If you stop at the Krzemianka reserve on the way back, add another hour for the boardwalk among the springs.
